Within your chart, you will see some sectors have one or several planets in them while others will be empty. Because there are eight planets plus the Sun and Moon and twelve sectors, it is easy to see there are more houses than there are planets.

Planets are on the move constantly

While many people will have empty houses in their chart, it’s important to remember that planets are on the move constantly and a sector that sits empty one day could be occupied the next. This also explains why two people born on the same day or within a day of each other can be very different.

The Eighth House in a horoscope chart

The Eighth House describes your attitude to sex and the links between sex and birth, and birth and death. It rules your ability to understand – and deal with – the transience of existence.

It also governs joint financial matters but excluding earned income as that is ruled by the Second House. Money you lend or owe, prizes, gifts, inheritances, tax payments and refunds, bonuses, commissions, royalties, child support, alimony, mortgages, credit, loans and venture capital apply to the Eighth House.

The Eighth House is ruled by Mars and co-ruled by Pluto and the sign of Scorpio.
