Do planets affect us? There’s a strong argument surrounding how the Moon is bound to affect all living things that require water to survive.

If the Moon can influence oceans and tides, then it’s fair to say it will affect a human being or animal, given that we’re both comprised mainly of water!

However, the Moon is probably an exception to the rule, as far as whether or not all planets affect us.

Planets

Planets represent our personalities

Every planet orbits the Sun at a different speed. The further a planet is from the Sun, the slower it will travel. In astrology, each planet represents a different part of our personalities.

The Inner Planets

The ‘Inner Planets’ – the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Mars, and Venus – all move relatively quickly through the Zodiac. Therefore, they affect our day-to-day lives, moods, and habits.

The Outer Planets

The ‘Outer Planets’ are Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune, Uranus, and Pluto. Because they move slowly, they spend considerably longer in each sign they occupy. Consequently, they shape bigger, longer-term trends in our lives. Uranus, Neptune and Pluto have exceptionally long orbital periods. It takes Uranus 84 years to work its way through each Zodiac sign, Neptune almost 164 years and Pluto 248 years.

A word about Pluto…

Despite being recognized for more than 70 years as one of nine planets in our Solar System, Pluto was relegated in 2006 to the status of ‘dwarf planet’ by the International Astronomical Union (IAU). This meant astronomers didn’t regard Pluto as a ‘proper planet’. However, astrologers remained fixed in opinion about Pluto’s importance in astrology and within an astrological chart. It is therefore considered as much as planet as any other in that respect.
